The Second Time I Saw You by Pippa Croft

It's the beginning of a new term at Wyckham College, Oxford, and a fresh start for Lauren Cusack. Her fingers were badly burnt when a whirlwind romance with gorgeous English aristocrat, Alexander Hunt, became too hot to handle - and now she's determined to keep her distance.

Her resolve is shaken when Alexander appears on her doorstep - he's been completely torn apart by some devastating news. Lauren knows that she should stay away, but their chemistry is undeniable and she soon finds herself back in Alexander's arms.

Can Lauren handle the drama that comes with Alexander Hunt? Or will she have to sacrifice the most exhilarating passion she's ever known . . .

(The Second Time I saw you is the 2nd book in the Oxford Blue Series.)

My Review

Each time I read a book thats part of a series I always worry because I haven't read the first book in the series. I worry about not understanding the story or who the characters are. However, I need not have worried with THE SECOND TIME I SAW YOU as it can be read as a stand alone novel. That being said, its just made me want to go back now and read the first book in the series. Its an excellent book with an interesting plot and very interesting characters. Lauren is essentially a strong woman with a mind of her own and her own dreams and aspirations. Put the very sexy and very wealthy Alex into the equation and Lauren's world becomes a heady mix of love, lust and drama!

Alex is a dark and brooding character but Lauren catches glimpses of him when he is vulnerable and learning to trust her. Despite Alex having a career in the army and a macho image, he is fighting his own personal demons. Too stubborn, or too afraid to be totally open with Lauren, their relationship is often strained and Lauren is left wondering where she stands with him. Alex's life is complicated and there are so many other secondary characters in the novel pulling him a thousand different directions that Alex becomes overwhelmed by his responsibilities. However, Alex is addictive and Lauren finds herself constantly craving him. The sex is explosive and Lauren and Alex cannot get enough of each other. The sex scenes in the book left me feeling a little flushed so I can only imagine how Lauren felt! The sexual chemistry between the pair oozes off the page and is guaranteed to make you rush for a cold shower!

The Second Time I saw you is a fantastic book. Finishing off on a cliff hanger, the book itself became as addictive as Alex is to Lauren! Highly recommended.

Promo Post - It Happened In A Lutheran Church by R.L Moatz

A mother’s heartfelt memoir outlines a nine-month saga that plays out in a Lutheran church beginning with a shocking confrontation and leading to an emotionally shattering chain of events that forever alters the course of her ten-year-old son’s life.

What begins as a mother’s promise to speak the truth on behalf of her child, evolves into a catharsis, and ultimately, forgiveness, as the author painstakingly chronicles her introspective journey.

After a sudden verbal attack from another parishioner, she tries to reopen the lines of communication with the aid of their Pastor and broker a resolution.

Instead, her Pastor speaks in riddles, dark insinuations are made, and no one will answer her questions.  People she thought she knew for years, suddenly didn’t seem to know her at all.

She needed her church family:  her husband was battling cancer, and she was dealing with some unanswered symptoms of her own.

Fatigued, frustrated and desperate to prove her son’s innocence, she ultimately victimized both of them with her own pride until the Lord found an unmistakable way to signal her to open her eyes and run!

Updates and Changes:

Changes

For anyone who decides to buy the book, there is some information on the bio portion on the back that is no longer relevant:  I no longer write for divinecaroline.com, Master Chef Junior has been added to the list of Chef Gordon Ramsay shows I’ve covered, and my email address is no longer at yahoo.com.  (I kept the change fairly simple – the book has me listed at moonlightscribe@yahoo.com.)

Updates

Prior to my recent illness, I was posting a new article to my blog site every Monday, which I am hoping to get back to in the very near future.  While I am fairly certain my new specialist & I are on the right track & the worst of my symptoms have improved, I have a procedure scheduled next week that may take a toll on me for a few days.  So I haven’t made any firm announcements yet regarding those.
In the interim, however, I will be updating the ‘Worthy Causes’ section of my blog over the course of the next few days.  I will send you the direct links as the posts go up.
