Today we have another book reviewer, Brook Cottage Books tour host AND author, the lovely Melanie Robertson-King! Thanks so much Melanie for agreeing to be interviewed.
REVIEWER IN THE
SPOTLIGHT
What is your blog called?
Celtic Connexions – My Scottish Roots and Writing (although
there hasn’t been much about my roots or writing of late).
How did you come up with the name?
I wanted something that reflected my Scottish heritage and something
catchy and different.
What sort of books do you review?
I like almost anything so I’m game to review almost anything
– crime, romance, memoir.
Do you take part in tours?
I’m one of your hosts and have hosted for the Masquerade
Tours, too, as well as other blog tours that come my way via a tour site.
Why did you decide to start a blog?
I started my blog and website at the same time - 2008. I
knew back then that I would need to have an online presence and author platform
long before I ever got published.
I enjoy chatting with other authors on my blog and doing
other fun stuff there. I hope the folks to visit Celtic Connexions like my
posts.
List 3 great books you have read lately
I have to stop at 3? Oh well, here they are and not
necessarily in any order…
The Highland Lass by Rosemary Gemmell
Silent Scream by Angela Marsons
Sorrow Lake by Michael J McCann
And I recently finished all four books in Maggie Wheeler’s
Farran MacKenzie Mystery Series. (I’d read the first two before but re-read
them before reading the last two).
Maggie’s series and Sorrow Lake are set in my locale and
that makes them even more appealing.
How many books are on your TBR pile?
Too many… LOL! No, seriously, I have what I call my “Leaning
Tower of TBR”. I have six bookcases downstairs – all crammed with read and
TBRs, stacks of books by my printer (most of which are TBRs), books in my
bedroom which are all TBRs and I just downloaded more Kindle books from amazon.
Can we say book-o-holic?
How many books do you read a week?
Not as many as I would like… LOL! Seriously, when I get home from work, my eyes
have usually gone buggy from being on the computer all day and my concentration
level is no more. I do most of my reading on the weekends and can read an
entire book in one day if I’m not distracted or wearing my ‘domestic goddess’
hat. I would say, one book a week and more if they’re shorter.
List 3 interesting facts about you.
I’m interesting? Egads! Who woulda thunk it? Okay, I’ll be
serious.
I took Highland Dancing lessons and won a silver medal in the Sword Dance
the last year I danced competitively.
I love to read books set during and in the early years after WWII (likely
because my Dad served in the war).
I love to travel.
