When I was at school, we were 'forced' to read Jane Eyre for our exams. While the rest of the class complained bitterly about it and continued to complain throughout the reading of the book, I was the kid sitting in the corner with her nose in the book totally engrossed! Reading Twelfth Night at Eyre Hall was like being transported in time again. This book is written with such beautiful and rich language and makes the reader feel that they are part of something special and sweeps them along in the journey Jane is taking in her life. It is a breath taking story. At times I did struggle to try to remember who each of the characters were as there were quite a lot but once I got my head around it I became that kid with her nose stuck in an amazing book again. (A helpful character list is provided at the beginning of the book).

Luccia Gray has a unique writing style that is in keeping with the way Charlotte Bronte intended Jane Eyre's story to be told. Whilst this book is book 2 in a trilogy it can be read as a standalone novel although I'd actually like to go back and read book 1 purely because I enjoyed this book so much. I adored the fact that there were characters dotted throughout the book such as Charles Dickens and Dr Watson! It added a lovely feel to the story.

In Twelfth Night at Eyre Hall we see an older and more mature Jane who it appears has made some pretty bad decisions and hides many secrets. Her marriage of convenience has become not only a nightmare for her but for all, including the staff of Eyre Hall. The new Mrs Mason as she has become is desperately unhappy. Then, a lost love comes back into her life and Jane begins to see a glimmer of hope against all the heartache she has had to endure, if she can trust him again. However, Mr Rochester's legacy of lies and deceit continues to plague Jane and her life is full of turmoil with secrets to uncover and truths to be found out.

The book has murder, mystery and lots of twists and turns throughout. In the original Jane Eyre story I was never convinced by Mr Rochester and any sincerity he might have displayed and Luccia Gray has taken his character one step further by painting him even darker than anyone could have imagined. A well written and engrossing tale. If you enjoy the classics then you will enjoy this. If you liked Jane Eyre and Bronte's writing then you will Love this book! I look forward to the next book in the series!
