I am thrilled to welcome Ursula Dukes to the blog with an author interview.
INTERVIEW
Ursula Dukes is a
self-published author of romantic suspense with an emphasis on interracial
relationships. She started writing her first novel at age fifteen, and it
wasn't until after she raised a family and worked for many years that she
decided to return to her first love, writing. One of her books, 'Witness Protection,' has
found its way onto cyclopaedia.net, a website dedicated to crime dramas.
INTERVIEW
Do you write under your real name or is
this a pen name you use?
Real name. Ursula Dukes
Where are you from?
Enfield, Ct.
List 3 interesting facts about yourself.
I enjoy starting up conversations with
random people.
I have watched every episode of Criminal
Minds.
I sometimes write when I am anxious and
that usually makes my anxiety go away.
What was the first thing you ever had
published?
Revengeful Deceptions. Published on March 2nd,
2013
Do you have a writing routine?
Writing is my full time job, so I am lucky
that I can write whenever I want to. But my favorite time to write is in the
late evening.
Do you have any writing rituals?
I don't know if this would be considered a
ritual or not, but I feel more comfortable writing from the comfort of my bed.
Where did the idea for your most recent
book come from?
I thoroughly enjoyed writing Witness
Protection, and when I saw how much my readers
enjoyed it too, I just couldn't let it end.
So I decided to write a sequel.
Who was the first person you shared your
book with?
I shared my first book with Author Kim
DeSalvo. She read the book and was kind enough to give me personal notes and
suggestions on how I could make it better.
Do you have a current work in progress?
Yes, I'm working on another romantic
suspense novel.
Do you have any advice for budding authors?
No matter what people tell you, listen to
your heart and go with your gut. If you want to
write, write. Do not let anyone or anything
discourage you.
Ursula lives in New England with her two
children and a cat named Max. She can most often be found daydreaming and
listening to the characters inside of her head that are just begging to be
brought to life. When she isn't doing that, she enjoys
cooking, taking road trips to no place in particular, and spending time with
her children. She would love to hear from you.
