The Keys to my Diary: Marina by Ann Omasta
Series: Keys to my Diary #2
Release Date: 29th July 2016
Genres: Romantic Comedy
Name? Ann Omasta
Do you write under your real name or is this a pen name you
use?
It's my real name. Otherwise, I would end up ruining books by forgetting
and signing my real name. People probably wouldn't appreciate me having to
cross it out and correct my signature. Oopsy!
Where are you from?
Muncie, Indiana, which is pretty much right
in the middle of the United States.
List 3 interesting facts about yourself.
I don't know how interesting they are, but
here goes. 1) I love HUGE dogs––the bigger, the better. 2) I have always
enjoyed the Wizard of Oz and agree with Dorothy..."There's no place like
home." 3) I despise whipped cream. I know it's inconceivable to many, but
it's true.
What was the first thing you ever had published?
My first
self-published book was Taking Chances (Book 1 of The Davis Twins Series). It's
a steamy and fun book about having to choose between sexy identical twins. My
first book that was picked up by a publisher was Getting Lei'd. It's about a
jilted bride who gets dragged on her Hawaiian honeymoon by her crazy grandma.
This book went through a Kindle Scout campaign, where readers got to vote and Kindle
Press editors made the final decision about publication, and it won!
Do you have a writing routine?
I don't have much of a
writing routine. Many advisers say to write every day, but some days I just
don't feel it. I do make sure to do something to promote my writing every
day––even if it's as small as responding to an email from a reader or
scheduling an ad.
Do you have any writing rituals?
As long as I have a mug of
hot tea and a big, fluffy dog by my side, my writing cave is a happy place.
Where did the idea for your most recent book come from? I
used to live in the Florida Keys. In fact, that's where I met my hubby! We only
lived there a couple of years, but that was such a wonderful time in our lives
that I wanted to share some of the wild and crazy stories from that period. It
felt very personal and intimate, like handing over the actual keys to my diary.
That's where the idea came from for The Keys to my Diary series. Of course,
only some of it really happened and the names have been changed to protect the
innocent. Much of it is fiction, and I will never tell which parts are true!
Who was the first person you shared your book with? The
first person to read my work was a close family friend who loves to read
romance. If she had reacted poorly to it, I probably would have hung up my hat
figuring that I was a hack. Thankfully, she loved it!
Do you have a current work in progress?
Oh, yes...always. I
usually have three or four book ideas simmering. I take notes as I come up with
ideas for each because I may not get around to writing it for a year. I only
actually write one book at a time. I know some authors who switch back and
forth between stories, but I can't do that. I become too immersed in the story
to change gears that way.
Do you have any advice for budding authors?
It sounds so
simple, but some people don't take the time to actually do it...sit down and
write. Once you've done that, write some more. Believe in yourself. If there's
a story inside you that is begging to be told, tell it and share it with the
world.
About the Author
I would
LOVE to send you a free novella ~ Aloha, Baby!
These
bios are generally rather dry, so I thought I'd shake up the format a little bit.
Here are ten not-so-interesting tidbits about me:
I despise whipped
cream. There, I admitted it in writing. Let the ridiculing begin.
Even though I have
lived as far south as Key Largo, Florida and as far north as Maine, I landed in
the middle.
If I don't make a
conscious effort not to, I will drink nothing but tea morning, noon, and night.
Hot tea, sweet tea, green tea - I love it all.
There doesn't seem
to be much in life that is better than coming home to a big dog who is
overjoyed to see me. My other family members usually show significantly less
enthusiasm about my return.
Singing in my
bestest, loudest voice does not make my family put on their happy faces. This
includes the big, loving dog referenced above.
Yes, I am aware
that bestest is not a word.
Dorothy was right.
There's no place like home.
All of the
numerous bottles in my shower must be lined up with their labels facing out. It
makes me feel a little like Julia Roberts' mean husband from the movie
'Sleeping with the Enemy,' but I can't seem to control this particular quirk.
I love, love, love
finding a great bargain.
Did I mention that
I hate whipped cream? It makes my stomach churn to look at it, touch it, smell
it, or even think about it. Great - now I'm thinking about it. Ick!

THE KEYS TO MY DIARY
~ Marina
My name is Marina Carpenter, and I am divorced.
I never in a bazillion years thought I would have to utter those words about
myself. I suppose nobody thinks they will go through the nightmare of divorcing
when they are fresh-faced, madly in love, and newly married.
Fern, my BFF, thought it would be a good idea for me to work through
my hurt feelings by writing in this journal. Well, I already know how I feel
about all of this...cheaters, loneliness, and divorce all majorly suck wind.
Maybe I need a hot, young, motorcycle-riding stud to help me forget
this overwhelming sadness for a bit. Yes, I think a steamy fling with a
tourist, who is visiting my little corner of paradise, is precisely what will
nudge me out of this slump. I'll just need to remember that it's a temporary
dalliance. No problem...right?
