- REVIEWER IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Kate Moloney
Thursday, 3 December 2015
Reviewer in the Spotlight Kate Moloney from Bibliophile Book Club.
Brook Cottage Books is thrilled to welcome reviewer Kate Moloney with this reviewer spotlight feature! Lets find out about Kate and her blog.
My blog is called
Bibliophile Book Club.
How did you
come up with the name?
Bibliophile is an
individual who loves books and I thought, 'hey, that's me' so I figured why not
incorporate it into my blog name. I added Book Club as I wanted it to be more
about interaction with people and when I hear book club I automatically think
of people discussing books so it fit nicely.
What sort of
books do you review?
I mainly read and
review crime/police procedural/psychological thrillers but I'll read anything
if I like the sound of it! My favourite genre is crime though, I love reading
it and never get sick of them!
Do you take
part in tours?
Funnily enough, I hadn't done a single tour until last
month (October) where I was asked to participate in two blog tours. One of the
was for Patricia Cornwell's new book Depraved Heart. I was never as excited in
my life to see my little blog on the tour pics on Twitter!
Why did you decide
to start a blog?
I started to blog
because out of everyone I know, I read the most. And I didn't want to keep
boring my family and friends with all my talk of books so I just decided to set
up a blog, followed by a Facebook page and I changed my Twitter to reflect it
too. I love to talk about books, read books, find new authors, read fellow
bloggers posts etc so I figured why couldn't I do it too!
Best piece of
blogging advice?
Write what you
think when reviewing, not what you think the author wants to hear. Criticism
doesn't have to be soul destroying. Honesty and clarity are two of the best
things you can employ in your review.
List 3 great
books you have read lately
For Reasons
Unknown by Michael Wood
I Let You Go by
Clare Mackintosh
Sycamore Gap by LJ
Ross
These three are
only a small selection of some fantastic books I've read lately!
How many books
are on your TBR pile?
I've just done a
count and my TBR sits at 371 books. 164 kindle/ebooks and 207 actual books on
shelves!!! Uh oh!!!
How many books
do you read a week?
On a good week I
can read up to 4 books maybe, and on a busy week I may only get one read. It
depends on whether or not I have the time/make the time. With 2 kids that can
be quite difficult sometimes.
List 3
interesting facts about yourself.
Oh god, I'm
useless at these sorts of things!!!
I love tattoos, I
have 7 and I'm planning my next two.
13 is my lucky
number. I was born on the 13th and married on the 13th and I have two 13
tattoos.
I don't talk in
the mornings until I've had coffee. You have been warned!
