The perfect escape to the country…
Recently single and tired of the London rat race Amanda is determined to
make her dreams of setting up an idyllic countryside boutique come true, and the
picturesque village of Westfield is the perfect place to
make a fresh start.
make a fresh start.
Local vet Ben is the golden boy of Westfield, especially to resident gossip
Agatha Mayweather, who is determined to help Ben get his life back together
after his wife left.
When a chance encounter outside the ‘chic boutique’ sets sparks flying
between Amanda and Ben, Agatha is itching to set them up. But are Amanda and
Ben really ready for romance?
The Chic Boutique on Baker Street is a novel from
Rachel Dove, winner of The Prima Flirty Fiction Competition. You won’t be able
to resist this heart-warming romantic story set in an idyllic Yorkshire
village, full of lovable characters and laugh-out-loud moments…as Amanda finds
her way to a second chance at life and love. This is the reading escape you’ve
been looking for!
This is my first Rachel Dove book and I love Rachel's writing! What a lovely story! We've all been in a situation where life isn't going where we want it to and decide a change is needed. In the book, Amanda does just that! Saying goodbye to a manic life in the city, Amanda leaves behind her job, her rat of a boyfriend, and what was once a successful high flying career and heads for a new life in the country. A scary but brave move and one some of us have only dreamed of doing.
Setting up her own shop, Amanda had hoped that the transition to country life would be an easy one. However, she finds that she is none too popular with with local vet Ben and fellow business owner. Undeterred by this however, the local ladies of the village, with the wonderful Agatha heading this merry band of do-gooders, set about organising a bit of matchmaking. However, things just don't seem to go according to Agatha's well laid plans.
This is an easy read book that is light hearted and leaves the reader with a feel good feeling. Rachel's wonderful writing style manages to keep the reader interested and invested in each character. There are lots of colourful characters throughout and I think Agatha might be one of my favourites. Well done to Rachel Dove for this wonderful story. I look forward to reading more of Rachel's work as she has become one of my new favourite authors and definitely one to watch!
