BOOK BLURB
Today on the blog I'm thrilled to have Lynda Stacey visiting with a fantastic author interview! Lynda's latest book Tell Me No Secrets is hot off the presses this month! So, lets find out a little bit about the book before we put Lynda through an interrogation interview!
Can a
secret be worse than a lie?
Every time
Kate Duggan looks in a mirror she is confronted by her guilt; a long, red scar
reminding her that she was ‘the one to walk away’ from the car accident. Not
everyone was so lucky …
On the
surface her fiancé Rob is supportive – but the reality is different. He’s
controlling, manipulative and, if the phone call Kate overhears is anything to
go by, he has a secret. But just how dangerous is that secret?
When Kate
begins work at a firm of private investigators, she meets Ben Parker. His
strong and silent persona is intriguing but it’s also a cover – because
something devastating happened to Ben, something he can’t get over.
As Kate and
Ben begin their first assignment, they become close. But, what they don’t
realise is how close to home the investigation will bring them, or who will be
hurt in the process …
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Do you
write under your real name or is this a pen name you use?
I write
under my own name Lynda Stacey
Where are
you from?
Doncaster
in South Yorkshire
List 3
interesting facts about yourself.
I've been a
Sales Director for the past 26 years, but I've also been a model, a scuba
diving instructor and a nurse.
What was
the first thing you ever had published?
I had an
article published in a newspaper twenty five years ago... It was very short and
at a time when the dental charges were changing. I wrote a piece called, 'Even
the dentist's have teeth.'
Do you have
a writing routine?
Not at all.
My writing is very sporadic. I work full time, so some night I just need to
relax, but others I'm up till the early hours, just writing one more chapter.
Do you have
any writing rituals?
Only that I
start at the beginning and perfect as I go along. I couldn't write the whole
draft before going back to the beginning. I like everything to flow and when I
write 'the end' it means I've really got to the end... well... until my editor
gets hold of it.
Where did
the idea for your most recent book come from?
TELL ME NO SECRETS began as a
very different book. It had a totally different storyline, but one Kate Duggan
came into the story, the book took on it's own life. Everyone who beta read it
said... 'not sure about the story, but we love her...', so then, it became her
story. I tore it up and started again.
Who was the
first person you shared your book with? My friend, Kathy Kilner. She gives me
an honest opinion in everything I ever do.
Do you have
a current work in progress?
Yes, I'm writing a sequel to the last book, to
House of Secrets. I'm hoping to release it by Christmas.
Do you have
any advice for budding authors?
Just to keep going. I wrote for years without
anyone really knowing, which I think was a mistake. I think you have to have
faith, join groups like the Romantic Novelist Association and talk to other
writers.
About the Author
Lynda grew up in the mining village of
Bentley, Doncaster, in South Yorkshire and went to both Bentley New Village
School, and Don Valley High School.
She is
currently the Sales Director of a stationery, office supplies and office
furniture company in Doncaster, where she has worked for the past 25 years.
Prior to this she’d also been a nurse, a model, an emergency first response instructor
and a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor … and yes, she was crazy enough to dive in
the sea with sharks, without a cage.
Following a
car accident in 2008, Lynda was left with limited mobility in her right arm.
Unable to dive or teach anymore, she turned to her love of writing, a hobby
she’d followed avidly since being a teenager.
Her own
life story, along with varied career choices helps Lynda to create stories of
romantic suspense, with challenging and unpredictable plots, along with (as in
all romances) very happy endings.
Lynda
joined the Romantic Novelist Association in 2014 under the umbrella of the New
Writers Scheme and in 2015, her debut novel House of Secrets won the Choc Lit
& Whole Story Audiobooks Search for a Star competition.
She lives
in a small rural hamlet near Doncaster, with her ‘hero at home husband’, Haydn,
whom she’s been happily married to for over 20 years.
