Silent Night, is a collection of short stories with a Christmas theme. All thirteen stories have previously been published in national magazines and are a window into the lives of ordinary people at this special time of year. They offer hope, comfort and the knowledge that often the spirit of Christmas can be found within ourselves.

 Author Interview

Do you write under your real name or is this a pen name you use?

I write under my real name Wendy Clarke.

Where are you from?

I’m from a little town called Steyning in West Sussex.

List 3 interesting facts about yourself.

I hate heights and am claustrophobic. I went to school with Simon Gallup from The Cure. I holiday in Greece every year.

What was the first thing you ever had published?

The first thing I ever had published was a letter in ‘Jackie’ magazine when I was about twelve. Sadly, I can’t remember what it was about.

Do you have a writing routine?

Absolutely not. I write as much as I can, when I can,r but that could be morning or afternoon. Never evenings - they are reserved for my husband!

Do you have any writing rituals?

Not really, but I can’t start writing unless I have first emptied the dishwasher! With magazine stories, I always write straight onto the computer and edit as I go along. This way, when I have finished, it is more or less ready to send to my editor. I write my novels in the same way.

Where did the idea for your most recent book come from?

The idea for a Christmas collection came from readers of my other two collections (one romance, the other stories of family and friendship). As I’ve had several festive stories published in magazines, it seemed a good idea to put them together into one book.

Who was the first person you shared your book with?

My husband is always the first person to see anything I write.

Do you have a current work in progress?

I am currently working on a romantic mystery set on a Greek island.

Do you have any advice for budding authors?

Write the best you can, grow a thick skin (all writers will be rejected at one time or another), write for love not money and finally don’t give up!
