Fashion designer Thérèse D’Alesandro has recently moved into
Westhead Manor with daughter Felicia and stepson Marco. Joining forces with
neighbour Ella Benedict, she is about to open a bridal boutique at Ella’s
exclusive wedding venue Lawns at Little Court.
Managing his father’s
European restaurant chain, Marco has both the looks and charm to guarantee him
any woman. Any woman, that is, except
the one he wants: Ella’s niece Charlotte.
Marco knows he should walk away as not only is she the most exasperating
female he has ever encountered she’s currently in a relationship with rock star
Christian Rosetti. But the chemistry between them is undeniable and sensing
trouble brewing between Charlotte and the egotistical singer he is prepared to
wait.
Charlotte’s cousin Lucy has discovered Christian’s guilty secrets
– ones he has been keeping safely hidden from everyone. Determined to cause
mischief and at the same time settle her own score with the arrogant star, she
sets in motion a chain of events which eventually brings Marco and Charlotte
together.
Thérèse’s husband Gianlucca has invited the granddaughter of an
old friend to stay as a house guest while he undergoes heart surgery. Rossana
Caravello is due to inherit the one of Italy’s premier vineyards on her twenty
first birthday in September. Aware this would make an excellent addition to her
husband’s international business portfolio, Thérèse plots to push the young
heiress and her stepson together. Rossana is already besotted with Marco, but
if the plan is to have any chance of success first she needs to get rid of
Charlotte…
Please note Wicked Game was previously published under the title
The Other Side of Morning.
Charlotte Kendrick knows that her relationship with rock god Christian
Rosetti is on a downward spiral. He has turned into an obnoxious,
overbearing male diva. Charlotte is feeling very confused and this is
further compounded by the arrival of Marco D'Alesandro. He is totally unaware of the effect he has on the female
population. Charlotte attempts to fight the attraction she feels for
him. Her feelings are all over the place. Despite her attraction to him she find him annoyingly infuriating and frustrating! Her feelings are so conflicted. Marco's stepmother Thérèse however has big plans for him in the form of
Rosanna, a young Italian heiress.
I totally loved this book. Don't be put off by the fact that there are so many characters. The author has very helpfully provided a character list at the beginning of the novel. There are lots of sub plots going on throughout the novel and these just add an extra dimension to the story. Joanna Lambert
has woven a complex web of love, passion and a cracking story. Full of interesting characters,
strong and smart women and a couple of villainous females who are intent
on doing whatever it takes to get their own way, this wonderful saga will have you engrossed and you will be hooked from page one. Think Dynasty, Dallas and Falcon's Crest all set in the UK!
Charlotte and Marco's attraction jumps right off the page. That man is hot! And rich! And did I
mention hot?
Wicked Game takes us into a world
of wealth and the sort of privileged lifestyle we can only dream about.
But, even the wealthy are not immune to having their hearts broken. And,
they don't always get their own way. Marco's stepmother Therese was
delightfully wicked and just the sort of character every book needs -
someone we love to hate! I'd highly recommend Wicked Game!
