'A heartwarming read, full of friendship and fun' Heidi Swain
What would you wish for if you were granted three wishes?
For the first time she can remember, Poppy is dreading Christmas.
Unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend after moving across the country for
him, there's nothing cheery about the festive season this year.
Dragged to a Christmas ball by best friend Layla, Poppy meets gorgeous actor
Gabe, who stars as a genie in a play. When he asks her what three wishes she
would make, she realises it's quite simple: love, a job she's happy in and,
just once in her life, to do something extraordinary.
Gabe and Poppy make a pact to help each other make their dreams come true. As
they tick off their wishes, their friendship blossoms... But, as they discover,
sometimes, what you want for Christmas isn't necessarily what you need...
A delicious romance to snuggle up with this festive season from
the author of Wedding Bells at the Signal Box Café and The Cosy Little Cupcake
Van.
Poor Poppy moves across the country so she can start afresh with her boyfriend. They've found the most beautiful flat to live in, in the most beautiful place and everything just seems so perfect. And then, her world comes crashing down around her. Dumped at Christmas and what's worse, there have been lies, omissions and downright cowardice from the man she thought she was going to marry. Poppy's future which had been so sure, was now taking on an uncomfortable air of uncertainty.
Then Poppy meets the wonderful Gabe who might only be an actor starring as a genie in a play he himself wrote, but it appears that he is steering Poppy towards her 3 wishes. Along with her best friend Layla and now new best friend Gabe, Poppy can see some light at the end of the tunnel and life starts to look very different but wonderful for her as both she and Gabe help each other to realise their dreams.
Oh my goodness! There just aren't enough ways to tell you how much I loved this book! The only way to describe it is to imagine if Sleepless in Seattle, White Christmas, You've Got Mail and It's a Wonderful Life all had a baby then Poppy's Christmas Wishes is that love child! It's a beautifully written book and Annette Hannah has really outdone herself with this absolutely wonderful story.
The course of true love or making wishes come true doesn't always run smoothly for our main characters with lots of misunderstandings about the basis of their friendship, one or two villains, Burger Breath Brian for example to hate and an absolute multitude of wonderful heart-warming moments and people to love. It was so wonderful to visit Bramblewood again which has featured in previous books by the author and say hello to some of the characters again.
The overriding theme throughout this book is how our friends can become our family. There are so many beautiful souls in this book that I really want to be part of this great big, wonderful friendship group within this hugely supportive community. They all care so deeply for one another and go the extra mile for one another. Gabe is simply delicious and its clear to see why everyone loves him. I adore the name Gabe too and have actually used it myself for a character in a novel so he was always going to be a favourite for me, but he could have been called anything. I was always going to fall in love with him! He's my new book boyfriend! I can't recommend this book highly enough. Go out and buy all Annette Hannah's books! You deserve such a treat! You're worth it!
