When life in the fast lane threatens to
implode …
Melanie Hunt’s job working for the Delta
racing team means she is constantly rubbing shoulders with Formula One
superstars in glamorous locations like Monte Carlo. But she has already learned
that keeping a professional distance is crucial if she doesn’t want to get
hurt.
New Delta team driver Aiden Foster lives
his life like he drives his cars – fast and hard. But, no matter how successful
he is, it seems he always falls short of his championship-winning father’s
legacy. If he could just stay focused, he could finally make that win.
Resolve begins to slip as Melanie and
Aiden find themselves drawn to each other –with nowhere to hide as racing
season begins. But when a troubled young boy goes missing, everything is thrown
into turmoil, including Aiden’s championship dream.
I am the first to admit it..........I hate motor racing. Actually I hate all sports! I will admit though that this is not my first foray into F1 racing stories. With Before You, I found myself drawn into the world of motor racing once again and wow! What a fab book! What's not to love about a smoking hot racing driver who has a bit of a bad boy reputation.
When F1 driver Aiden moves to Delta team, it seems that the ghost of his father's success as a world champion driver follows him wherever he goes. Never quite living up to his father's reputation ultimately always makes the goal of being world champion slightly out of reach for Aiden. The press love to pick up on this fact and Aiden must always bat away their annoying references and comparisons. Of course he does like to bed one or two women along the way just to take his mind of things.
And, in the background is press officer Melanie. Definitely the opposite to the type of woman Aiden normally goes for and the victim of a broken heart. Her resolve not to fall into bed with another driver after her disastrous relationship in the past crushed her seems to be slipping . But, there is something different about her. Melanie is trying to remain professional throughout but even she is mesmerised by Aiden's charm and good looks. But, there is something going on in the background for Aiden too and despite his bravado he is not really the outspoken, suave and unflappable character he likes to portray to the press, or the women in his life.
Kathryn Freeman has quite clearly done her homework with regards to the ins and outs of Formula 1 racing. Her descriptions of race days, the tracks and the knowledge of cars etc made this book very real. It was a very interesting and entertaining read, very well written and I was swept along with the whole story. Very exciting. The pace was good and there was little opportunity for the reader to get bored here! The story was as fast paced as the cars! Interesting characters with hidden depths and great back stories. Excitement, a little bit of mystery, love and fast cars! What's not to love about this book. I now have a little bit of a crush on the lovely Aiden! My other book boyfriends will be getting very jealous! A great read from a great author!
ABOUT KATHRYN FREEMAN
I was born in Wallingford but have spent most of my life living in a
village outside Windsor. A former pharmacist, I’m now a medical writer who also
loves to write romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others
it’s the reaction to a hunky hero…
I’ve two teenage boys and a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day
whether he has to bother buying a card again this year (yes, he does) so the
romance in my life is all in my head. Then again, my husband’s unstinting
support of my career change goes to prove that love isn't always about hearts
and flowers - and heroes can come in many disguises.
