Strictly My Husband by Tracy Bloom
Release Date: 16th July 2016
Genres: Romantic Comedy

Laura loves it when Tom takes her for a late night tango around the kitchen after their friends have gone home and they’re avoiding the washing up. She can’t dance but who cares when no one is watching?

All that changes when Tom arrives on the doorstep with Carly, a professional dancer, and announces he’s offered her the spare room to rent while she performs in a show that Tom is directing.

An outraged Laura doesn’t feel like dancing with Tom anymore but Carly does. It only takes two to tango, and given Tom’s history who knows where it could end? Will Laura be the one left watching from the sidelines whilst Carly waltzes off with her husband’s heart?

Put on your dancing shoes people because Strictly My Husband by Tracy Bloom will sweep you off your feet! Laura and Tom have a happy and settled marriage. Both are in good jobs and have a great group of friends. Yes Tom isn't exactly living his dream career wise but he is content with his lot. That is, until Carly comes into their lives.
Tom is in charge of organising entertainment in a theme park. Every year he has the responsibility of putting together a show and and every year his dreams and ambitions get a little bit more crushed by a lack of funds to host the show and a lack of talent from all those auditioning for the show. That is, until Carly auditions. Tom thinks she is amazingly talented. His assistant Amy however, does not like Carly at all. Amy is a wonderful character and her either deadpan approach to everything or her total manic approach scares the life out of Tom in equal measure! However, despite Amy's reservations Tom takes pity on Carly when he discovers she has been dumped by her boyfriend and is homeless so invites her to be a lodger. Unfortunately poor Laura doesn't know anything about it until Tom arrives home with the very glam Carly. To say Laura is not impressed at Tom's thoughtlessness is a huge understatement. I felt like punching him on Laura's behalf! Anyway, Tom's actions have a knock on effect on his and Laura's lives in ways that nobody could have imagined! And, to add to Laura's increasing feelings of unease about Carly, the fact that she looks like Tom's ex can only mean one thing in Laura's eyes. Of course, Laura and Tom have completely different perspectives on what is going on in their lives and the story is told from their viewpoints. How can two people get it so wrong!

Tom now feels he has a real chance to put together the glitzy and glam show he has always wanted to produce now that he has Carly as his leading lady. Laura becomes panicked when she thinks that Tom wants Carly as just more than a dance partner. Tom, in typical male fashion (sorry guys) is completely oblivious to Laura's fears. Not only has Carly moved into their home, but she is now becoming part of their friendship group and a part of their Friday night dinner party nights where Tom's friend Jerry seems to be a little bit over enthusiastic in getting to know Carly.

Strictly My Husband is one of those books that once you start reading you simply cannot stop until you get to the very end. Tracy Bloom's writing style is fun and a little bit mad at times. Tracy has managed to write in a cast of supporting characters that are absolutely bloody hilarious and so deserve their own books! Jerry is a perfect example of this. He is married to Laura's best friend and employs Tom's brother. He is a wonderful character whose antics add such a comedic element to an already brilliantly funny story in everything he does and says. Political correctness is lost on him and he's an absolute flirt! And, if I'm asked about this I'll deny it but........he reminds me of my husband!

Strictly My Husband is a light hearted and really funny read that I guarantee you will love! It will have you dancing around your kitchen too. It may also make you spontaneously go out and buy an inflatable crocodile! You need to read the book to find out about that! Dancing, drama, comedy and romance. What a perfect recipe for a great book! Highly recommended.
